About this job

This tall pine was taken down with a combination of an aerial lift and a climbing arborist tied in to the trunk. Branches were cut from the top of the canopy first, then trunk sections were rigged and lowered under control into a clear landing area. Using the bucket for upper cuts and rigging for the heavy wood kept the work off the surrounding property.

How the work was done

  1. The aerial lift bucket was positioned inside the pine canopy for the first cuts.
  2. A climbing arborist tied in to the trunk and removed branches from the top down.
  3. Heavy trunk sections were rigged and lowered under control.
  4. Each section was landed in a cleared drop area and cut up on the ground.

Equipment in the photos

  • Aerial lift (bucket truck)
  • Climbing harness and lanyard
  • Rigging rope and lowering gear

Result: The pine came down piece by piece with no wood dropped onto the surrounding property.
